prep

I have been worrying about how I am going to keep up with my weekly journals while away from my studio for a long time. I think I might have it figured out... I have been making my journals as a series each month, so I decided that the next two months (July and August) will be one large series - nine pieces total.

Yesterday I chose my ingredients for the series, these will be the constant for all nine pieces - gold brocade backgrounds, white, black and red tulle, beige pattern paper scraps, gold silk threads (that I picked up off the floor after a dress making project), purple and gray cotton variegated threads, and red silk mixed threads from Oliver Twists. The rest of the ingredients will come from my travels - ticket stubs, bottle caps, leaves, twigs, whatever happens to come my way each week. I will be using glue and hand stitching only, can't travel with a sewing machine and small children. We'll see how this project goes, the first test is this weekend in Vermont... I'll report back on Monday!

NATALYA - I spent a weekend last fall at a cabin in the mountains. I took my basic tool kit (fits in an old tin lunchbox) and some sheets of card stock. I made some of my favorite ATC that weekend from things out of my purse and stuffed in the dash of the car, labels off the foods I took, some old magazines and things there in the cabin and things I picked up on walks around the property

I cannot wait to see the outcome of this challenge to yourself.

some wonderful things come from the challenge of working with limitations.
Hurry back, I can't wait to see what you come up with -- given such a provocative beginnning.

The basics look wonderful in the pictures. I'm sure you'll make fabulous journals....and probably other art besides!

This is a great idea. Have fun in Vermont. Lynn on her blog, she's a quilter, just went on a month long car trip with her husband and she handsewed her quilt while hubby drove. Course she didn't have two young children with her.
