city breeze

Phew... Ready to be shown! I declared this piece to be finished yesterday after much flitting back and forth and indecision.. It's my first attempt at 3D in years. I really enjoyed the process and the challenge, so maybe there'll be more.
I couldn't make up my mind about a title either, but last night I took it to show to my fiber group of fabulous women and a few ideas were thrown at me. I chose a name that was inspired by a few of them.

Presenting City Breeze:

I used my own photo that I manipulated in Photoshop and printed on silk organza. I hand stitched the windowpanes with various silk and rayon threads. A piece of split wood and a twig and some silver metallic thread pulled it all together. It stands 22" tall and 10" wide and it'll be exhibited next month with artwork by the aforementioned group of fabulous women. I will have more details on the exhibit soon and promise to share them.

It's so ethereal. And, it's almost minimalist compared to your usual embroideries! Kudos to you for creating something so different. I hope it inspires more exploration.

May be my favorite yet.

I think it is brilliant. I work in Silk Organza a lot because I like the ethereal quality it gives.

Lovely, so breezy and tenuous.
Don't forget to let me know the dates so we can post it on the QNA website.

It is so organic! I love the fact that it is fixed to the wood, but has such great movement. You are so innovative! Keep the unique ideas flowing, you are a role model!
