fiber art for a cause

I am greatly honored to be asked to contribute art to Virginia Spiegel's FiberArt For A Cause fundraiser. It is a fabulous Invitational Reverse Auction of Fabulous Fiberart! How's that for a mouthful?
Seriously it is wonderful selfless fundraiser that Virginia and her sister dedicate themselves to, and all for an excellent cause - American Cancer Society. Many wonderful artists are donating art to this cause and 100% of the monies goes directly to ACS. The auction will take place in March 2009 and I promise to give you all the details once I have them. The contributing artists are:
Gerrie Congon
Marjorie DeQuincy
Rayna Gillman
Carol Larson
Linda Teddlie Minton
Susie Monday
Judy Coates Perez
Leandra Spangler
Roxane Stoner
and Me!

Meanwhile, all you artists out there do consider another fundraiser that Virginia is doing - Collage Mania. Artists are invited to donate a collage that will be auctioned off in May. A wonderful opportunity to donate and/or purchase some affordable artwork and contribute to a worthy cause. That is what the three collages in this post are all about. They are Питерские Окна/Piterskie Okna/St. Pete Windows 7, 8 and 9. Dryer sheets printed with images of windows that I took in St. Petersburg, Russia this summer, layered on hand painted cotton and mustard colored wool, free-hand machine embroidered, painted with oil sticks and hand stitched. Each measuring 9 1/2" x 6 3/4" mounted on 10"x8" mat board, and ready for framing.
