first art of 2012

I thought I'd start the new year off with a bang and create some art. Or in this case finish some. I have actually lost track of when exactly I started this piece. It has gone through quite a few incarnations. I'd be happily working on it and the next morning would totally hate it...again and again and again... But this week something went differently. Perhaps it was another deadline motivation, perhaps the stars aligned. In either case I am happy with the result, which will be traveling to Philly soon to participate in the Synchronicity exhibit at the Highwire gallery, which is part of Fiber Philadelphia.

Glad you kept working on your UFO. Love the layered effect of looking through a wrought iron railing into a dreamy landscape. Lovely.

Yay! I wish I could say i've started the year with a bang (more like a whimper). Your hand stitches really reward the viewer when you get up close. It's lovely and will be a great addition to the show in Philly.

I really love how you communicate a sense of place, Natalya. You have a gift for it.

This is so beautiful. You have captured the iron work so well and yet the background is interesting in its own right. I really love this.
