Actually a whole lot bigger! I finished another piece from my City Lines series. This one is called Sunset and it is composed completely out of recycled plastic shopping bags. The only new material that I used was thread. I have mentioned before how much I've been enjoying layering and collaging translucent plastics.. and I got to do that on a rather large scale in this piece. It measures 37" high and 55.5" across. All the stitching is done by machine only, not a single hand stitched detail this time. It appeals to my "pedal to the metal" side and gratifies the speed demon in me...
Here are a few details first:

I used my own photographs of NYC to make a composition for this piece. All the buildings do exist, just not together in this location, and perhaps someone will recognize the bridge too. To me NYC is such a jumble of images, a layer upon layer of glass, concrete and iron, a city whose colors change within minutes depending on the clouds, the time of the day or just which shadow you step into. Hopefully I was able to express that here..

An inspiring piece both for it's composition and use of materials. I love it!
Wow I love how you have used the plastics and stitching to create this beautiful piece.
Very cool! I like how it's essentially simple, but when you really look at it there's lots to discover. :-)
Wow. Stunning. Great job Natalya. I'd love to see it in person! So many layers and such luscious detail.
