playdate

Today I had a mini-playdate with my friend Vivien. We had results from our challenges with us today. Unfortunately neither one of us remembered to take the before pictures of our found objects. Which were a small stick and a piece foil wrapping paper. I am always amazed at how differently we interpret our pieces... Vivien did some wonderful cutting on her piece and raw edge appliqué, painted the trees to which she attached the stick broken into pieces, trapped it all with netting and then stitched on gray glass beads for stars. I love how simple and graphic her work is...

I trapped my foil with some gold organza between sheets of black tulle and then free-hand machine embroidered some vague tree shapes on it. I then backed it with two dryer sheets and attached my stick broken into pieces also. Then I added some hand stitching in silk thread. I'm calling it "Dusk".
Funny how we both wound up breaking the stick and coming up with trees...

I guess "stick" means "trees." I really like your interpretation.
