costume time

If it's October it must be time for costumes right? of course! For Halloween you say? wrong! Well those too, but I am preparing for Russian school Christmas play costumes. I had to do sketches early so that I could corral as many assistants as possible as soon as possible. Want make sure the costume making process isn't rushed and panicked.

The play this year will be Cнежная Королева/Snow Queen, based on a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. Here's link to the cartoon we used for inspiration, since I can't seem to figure out how to paste the video directly into my blog. And here's a link to the Anime cartoon.
And here are my sketches for few of the characters.
This is the Snow Queen The Princess The Prince The Robber Hag (except ours will not be much of a hag at all) The Robber Girl

Once I get stitching on these costumes I'll update with new photos, as hopefully I will have a new camera by then. Yep my camera took a swim in the Pacific and is now kaput.....

I want to be a robber hag!! In fact, we almost named our daughter Ronia, whom you might recognize as a Robber Girl.
