I am honored to have had my artwork chosen to be a part of an invitational exhibit called "Beneath the Surface".
It is organized by Dinner At Eight Artists, lead by Jamie Fingal and Leslie Tucker Jenison. The special exhibit will debut at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA - July 22-25th at the Long Beach Convention Center. It is sponsored by Moore's Sewing Centers and Brother International.
My piece is called St. Pete Memories/Pamyat' O Pitere/Память О Питере. It is constructed from from my family letters, my grandmother's medical records, a family photo and family linens. (The delay in blogging has been caused by my laptop dying unexpectedly, but it was resurrected by having it's brain replaced by a Mac Genius! At least that's what he said, and I'm just happy to have it back!)

Congratulations on your artwork being accepted. Is the photo of your Grandmother? Beautiful.
Beautiful work, congratulations! Wish I could see it and appreciate it in person.
congrats. i like your use of family materials. wish my brain could be replaced and upgraded!
I love this piece. It's so evocative; even though I can't read a word in these letters, they conjure up memories of the thin paged notes from my grandmother. Thsi is an excellent piece. The exhibit is sure to be a great one with pieces like this in it.
