Beneath the Surface

I am honored to have had my artwork chosen to be a part of an invitational exhibit called "Beneath the Surface".
It is organized by Dinner At Eight Artists, lead by
Jamie Fingal and Leslie Tucker Jenison. The special exhibit will debut at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA - July 22-25th at the Long Beach Convention Center. It is sponsored by Moore's Sewing Centers and Brother International.
My piece is called St. Pete Memories/Pamyat' O Pitere/Память О Питере. It is constructed from from my family letters, my grandmother's medical records, a family photo and family linens. (The delay in blogging has been caused by my laptop dying unexpectedly, but it was resurrected by having it's brain replaced by a Mac Genius! At least that's what he said, and I'm just happy to have it back!)

I love this piece. It's so evocative; even though I can't read a word in these letters, they conjure up memories of the thin paged notes from my grandmother. Thsi is an excellent piece. The exhibit is sure to be a great one with pieces like this in it.

Congratulations. It sure looks like Ms Fingal has assembled a strong group of quilt artists. I like your take on the theme. It's so very appropriate to the scope of your work.
